Key to Advancement
Whatever your area of expertise or interest, whether it is a special craft of hobby, a profession, or perhaps a life skill- as a Merit Badge Counselor you play a vital role in stirring a young man’s curiosity about it. By serving as a counselor, you offer your time, knowledge, and other resources so Scouts have the opportunity to broaden their horizons. And in doing so , your mission is to combine fun with learning.
To become a Merit Badge Counselor, requires NO FEE. Simply complete a BSA Adult Application (Yes, you will need one even if you are already registered with the Troop!) a Merit Badge Application, and Complete and Current Youth Protection Training. There are no limits to the number of Merit Badges you can counsel for! Although, you would serve the youth best if you have some knowledge, experience and background for the badges you sign up for!
Training for new counselors and refresher training for current counselors will be provided in the Summit Library Soon! Watch troop Calendar for more information!
A list of Merit Badge Counselors can be found in Scoutbook.
